What to Wear

Picking out your clothes is an important part of having your pictures taken. Having the right clothing can really add personality to your photos. To take some of the stress out of deciding on what to wear, I have compiled a few suggestions.

Lots of layers and solids mixed with a few patterns are good - anything to add interest/texture such as chunky sweaters, scarves, knitted/crochet hats, clothing with ruffles, buttons, ribbon, embroidery.

Store ideas for kiddos:

  • Etsy.com
  • Gap kids
  • Crew kids (jcrew)
  • Crazy8
  • Old Navy
  • Matilda Jane

Store ideas for Adults:

  • Gap
  • Anthro
  • Jcrew
  • Banana R

Accessories really add fun accents to the photo. Suggestions are hats, scarves, fun necklaces, funky shoes, tights, a “lovey” for kids who have one (favorite blankie, or stuffed animal or toy).

Try picking a few colors and stick to them for the whole family. Dark jeans are good to pair with coordinating colors. Keep everyone unique but staying within the same color scheme. These are simply suggestions. By no means must you adhere to these! Most importantly. . .you should feel comfortable! =)

Clothing changes are fine and you can bring a couple of changes of clothing if you’d like.

For newborns and babies, birthday suits are my fave. That way we can capture all the adorable little details and sweet wrinkles. Diaper covers are great also. Remember that babies may get grouchy with too many clothing changes and we want them to stay happy or sleeping, right?  ;-)
